Ok the john deer 170 had to have a new carb well a used one just ordered it on eBay no I'm not crazy I've see people replace carbs because they were diry that's nothing though I've seen a man buy a new backhoe because the fuel filter was bad and it was 1 year old but the pin than holds the float the two little mounts were broken and it was missing 2 screws I got it to start 2 times but it was spewing gas out everywhere
